Mats Nilsson from the small provincial community of Åtvidaberg in Sweden has an old portable sawmill at his farm. Last fall, one of the feeder motors broke down and stopped working. He contacted the supplier of the sawmill, but they did not have a replacement motor available. They offered a replacement of the entire feeder, but the price was off budget and the delivery time way too long. Then the winter came along, and the project was put on hold.
In the middle of March, the sawmill had to get back up and running again as the backlog of work was piling up. The motor that needed repair carried an Ankarsrum label and therefore Mats contacted us directly. We offered several options such as a brand-new motor and the option to repair the old one.
Mats chose the climate smart alternative to repair. Since Mats lives relatively close, he took his brother-in-law on a trip to Ankarsrum in the beautiful sunny spring weather. While his motor was being repaired and tested by our skilled staff member Kim Karlsson, we had a “fika” which is Swedish for having a chat and a cup of coffee.
After telling great stories about the local industry in the old days these two gentlemen headed back with a refurbished motor ready to be reinstalled and perform.
We were most happy to be able support Mats and at the same time make a small contribution to saving the planet.
